Raiders.com: Hello to all you Raiders fans and welcome back to another exciting week of Stu’s News - Draft Edition. The NFL Draft, what more can I say, those three words are what make all the difference in any college senior or junior’s life. It is what can make or break any college kid’s chances to play the best game ever invented and receive a nice paycheck every week for doing so. The NFL Draft is a life-long process that is crammed into 48 hours of madness. It is a time for celebration and unfortunately for many, heartache. No matter who you are or where you come from, every athlete feels they should have been drafted just a little bit higher then they were. I know for me, it was one of the longest days of my life.

Every year since my draft year has been fun and interesting but none has been able to top the excitement of this past weekend. We had the chance to draft #1 overall. The past few years we have drafted high but having the number one pick is something special. I was pretty sure we were taking the big 6′6”, 260-pound Russell but you never know until that name is officially called. I was excited but my excitement was equally matched by the other 300 screaming Raiders fans, Raider Legend Jim Otto and teammate Alvis Whitted. at McCovey’s Restaurant. After talking with many fans and hearing that they stood outside at 7:00 a.m. to see who we were going to take just again reinforced the fact that we not only have the best fans in the NFL but in the world. After the pick was announced, the celebration was on. I enjoyed talking and signing autographs for every Raider fan I could see.
